Kelp/laminaria longicruris - $20.00/lb. (Item MS-1) Order Harvested in the cold months of April and May, this crisp, long and beautiful sea elder is a member of the oldest family of plants on earth ... and they were the first to establish a top and a bottom, giving them a sense of polarity, internal direction, rootedness, upward floatation in the water world toward the light, and an infinite patience and faith in the cycles of tide, season, ebb & flow, coming & going from existence. This plant is easy to cook with land vegetables on a daily basis. It can also be roasted and taken to the movies with popcorn. |

Alaria/Alaria esculenta - $24.00/lb. (Item MS-2) Order This plant is similar to wakame; it is the standard sea vegetable for miso soup. Unlike some wakame, it has not been blanched in boiling water, prior to drying. I harvest only the delicate annual plants, in the upper zones, during the months of May and June. I leave the deeper perennial plants to insure that the annual zone will always regenerate. Alaria is rapid-growing, tenacious, and flexible. It thrives in surf, and it has a very clean smell. |

Dulse/palmaria palmata - $28.00/lb. (soft) (Item MS-3S) Order Dulse/palmaria palmata - $28.00/lb. (crisp)(Item MS-3C) Order Dulse is a favorite because it can be eaten straight from the bag. It can also be roasted at 200 degrees F. to make a crunchy chip, and it can be cooked with vegetables and fish chowders. When you order, specify "soft" if you want to eat it raw or "crisp" if you intentd to cook with it. |

Digitata/ Laminaria digitata - $20.00/lb (Item MS-5) Order This plant is similar to kombu. It is deep growing, it prefers turbulent water, and it preserves its own nature in a world of pests. This plant dries strong and dark, and it has a natural sweet smell. It's good for winter cooking, and it's good daily food for a sea harvester working in cold water. |

D'Adamo's book, Eat Right For Your Type who would like to include bladderwrack in their diet. Note: kelp also contains generous amounts of fucose. Use whichever you prefer. |

Family Pack-$60.00/3 lbs. (Item MS-7) Order My most popular item, and the most seaweed for the money. A family pack contains six individual bags of kelp, alaria, dulse, nori, digitata, and soup mix with many recipes, both raw and cooked. Did you know that ten wet pounds of seaweed dry out to one pound? The family pack represents a bushel of wet seaweed, harvested in the proper season, from some of the wildest places on the coast of Maine. |

Soup Mix and Survival Pack - $60.00/3 lbs. (Item MS-8) Order This is a three pound blend of chopped seaweeds suitable for adding to soups. Many people don't have time for fancy cooking, but they do keep a pot of soup. If that soup contains a variety of seaweeds, the person will be more assured of getting necessary minerals. Think of it this way: 90% of human immunity to bacteria and viruses is "nonspecific immunity" and that simply means that we keep our human bloodstreams well mineralized (alkaline) and salty enough so that whatever bacterial and viral critters crawl into us are literally DEHYDRATED by the ocean we have carried within us since time immemorial. If I were ill, physically or spiritually, I would turn to the sea for my healing, one way or another. In this spirit, I offer the soup mix as a survival pack for helping people to maintain their nonspecific immunity and their internal balance in a world that is growing increasingly stressful. |
| Seaweed Fertilizer/Ascophyllum Nodosum - $60.00/25 lbs. (Item MS-9) Order This is for gardeners. Ascophyllum contains potent concentrations of trace minerals, micronutrients, amino acids and vitamins that stimulate the growth of plants, - but most important, ascophyllum contains growth hormones, including cytokinins, auxins, and gibberellins, which stimulate cell division and larger root systems. Research and field trials have confirmed the role of ascophyllum in increased crop yields, drought resistance and stress recovery. You may also find your plants are more frost hardy. Use ascophyllum flakes as mulch addition at the rate of at least 25 lbs. per 200 square feet, or as an addition to the compost pile. |
